Hello, and welcome. I teach English and Communication at junior and senior high schools in Japan. For years I have felt it unfortunate that Japanese teachers of English have so few chances to share their work and insights in English with colleagues abroad. I created this blog to help change that. Drawing on what I learned through ACE, I try to distill classroom practice and research into posts that can travel across contexts.

I would be delighted to exchange ideas with teachers from anywhere—please feel free to comment, question, or challenge. If this space can spark conversation and collaboration, it will have met its purpose.

In the educational setting of schools, there is constant consideration of “what” and ‘how’ to teach students. As student diversity increases, as it does today, and young people from various backgrounds gather in schools, an attitude is needed that leverages each student's individuality and treats diversity as the school's asset. Simultaneously, this must foster a new attitude toward learning in each student's mind, one based on “awareness of the concept formation process.” Curriculum and instructional design are now entering a new phase.
